Understanding the science behind PRP Injections.

What is PRP?

Platelet-Rich Plasma or “PRP”, is concentrated platelets and growth factors within plasma. It contains high levels of proteins that promote cell growth, repair, and tissue regeneration, making it a natural therapy skin rejuvenation.

The Process: After blood is drawn, it is placed in a centrifuge device and spun,. The Plate-Rich Plasma, a clear yellow liquid, separates from other components in the blood. Once separated, it is removed from the tube and used in various procedures. In the Spa world, PRP can be used to enhance other procedures or as a stand alone procedure to improve the following:

  • Reducing fine lines and wrinkles

  • Collagen and volume loss

  • Brightening uneven skin tone

  • Tightening and toning skin

  • Dark under eye circles

  • Reduction in the appearance of acne scarring

The Benefits of PRP

There are many benefits of PRP treatment. When paired with Micro-needling, PRP is used as a glide and growth factors are injected into the micro-channels created by microneedling, resulting in a more significant reduction in fine lines and wrinkles, as well as tighter and brighter skin appearance. Collagen reproduction is more noticeable than micro-needling alone.. Over several weeks and even months after treatment, you will continue to see improvement in skin quality and appearance.

NUR’s two most requested PRP procedures are under eye injections and pairing PRP with micro-needling. Often times both are performed on the same day. The difference in the under eye appearance is remarkable. Undereye PRP Injections are a popular treatment for treating hollow or dark under eyes, saggy or thin skin and fine lines. When injected in the under eye area, the PRP initiates a local stem cell response resulting in increased volume which reduces dark circles and diminishes the appearance of fine lines.
